Independence Manor at Hunterdo
Flemington, Hunterdon County
Independence Manor sits along Route 31 among the rolling hills of Flemington in Hunterdon County. The grounds feature landscaped courtyards with seasonal flowers, birdhouses, and birdbaths, giving residents a quiet outdoor retreat close to Hunterdon Medical Center. Inside, the community uses neutral tones and nature-themed artwork to create an unhurried, comfortable atmosphere. Accommodations include 80 private or companion-style suites in the assisted living wing, alongside a dedicated 10-bed memory care wing called Manor House. Residents are welcome to bring their own furniture, hang keepsakes on their doors, and personalize their space. Memory care suites include their own kitchenettes and full bathrooms, while all apartments offer individual climate controls and emergency pull cords. Daily meals are served restaurant-style in the main dining room, with an intimate dining space reserved for memory care residents. The culinary team prepares three meals daily, honours special requests, and offers an Always Available menu. Between meals, residents gather in the common areas to play cards, read in the library, or listen to music on the piano and antique victrolas. A fully equipped gym hosts morning therapy through FOX Rehab followed by afternoon open exercise. Residents also have access to an on-site hair salon, a sun porch, and a therapeutic sensory room designed to ease anxiety for those with cognitive loss. Scheduled group outings take residents into town for shopping, dining, and local events. The community suits older adults who want to stay active while getting help with daily tasks, as well as those living with early to mid-stage Alzheimer's. Certified nursing staff and aides are in the building 24 hours a day, handling personal care, daily cueing, and medication management. Short-term respite stays of at least 30 days are also supported.
