Baker Place is a sheep in wolf clothing. The way that Kim has treated my grandmother, demonstrates that she and the institutional structure of this place sees residents as a paycheck rather than humans with dignity. On multiple occasions, my family had to approach management about the treatment my grandmother was receiving and it took state intervention before any positive change was seen. But even then, positive change was short-lived as they attempted to circumvent any ethical and legal boundary to evict an individual they showed little regard for. They give assisted living facilities a bad name. Even though she is no longer a resident there, it has been incredulous to hear how incompetent they are in comparison to the new facility. No longer is my grandmother being denied basic human care like cleanliness and decency. The fact that she was left in her room and my family found her on the floor because she was left in there alone and she was hungry, with none coming to her aid. The response from management when presented with this information? An eviction letter. Before you consider entrusting your family member's care to this facility, just ensure that you are prepared for their caretaking methods.

I would put no stars for the management and several stars for the aides. My mom was there for over 2 years and once she went on Medicaid, the care changed! She was put in her room in the afternoon with door locked and at times, just her top and NO pants! She was not taking out to be with rest of the residence for dinner. She is in a wheelchair and needs help getting out of her bed! The excuse they would give us is that she was sleepy even though she was wide awake for dinner! They tell the aides if ANY residence is sleeping in the lobby, that they need to go in their room for it would look like a nursing home if people walked in!! I found my mom on the floor a month ago for she just wanted the be with the residences for dinner! This place has NO compassion, NO respect, NO dignity and care for their residents! They just want your money which you either have to sell your home and once you run out of money and go on Medicaid, they want you out with an eviction notice!! My mom was one of them! Management needs to go for these residence deserves better quality of care like they are family instead of a NUMBER!!

I would give them 0 stars if I could. What was once a great place for seniors with kindness and compassion has gone downhill over the last year. The new facility manager Jen and head nurse Kim could care less about the residents. Once you run out of money and go on Medicaid they kick you out like trash. They already kicked out several residents on Medicaid. They tried to evict my mom twice. The State of NJ Ombudsman had to get involved. They were told by the state that their actions are illegal. All they care about is the money! They mistreated my mom almost on a daily basis. When we questioned them we received no response. Bruises on our mom's body which they never explained. Every communication was ignored. They went as far as locking my mom in her room after lunch time to never take her out of bed until the next day. She missed several dinners eating with everyone else in the dining hall because they forced her to eat alone in her room. One day she tried getting out of bed because she was hungry and fell. Our mom is dependent on a wheelchair to get around. My sister found her laying on the floor yelling for help. Their social budget has been slashed in half and now their food budget too! Less money towards the residents and more money in the pockets of the management team! Oh yeah and they are the most expensive senior living facility in South Jersey! We pulled both my Mom and Aunt out of there and into another facility. Best move and decision for our family! I must add that most of the aids that work there are amazing even though they are always understaffed. The people running the facility are horrible humans and should not be working with seniors. DO NOT PUT YOUR LOVE ONES IN THEIR CARE!!!

My Mother~in~Law is a resident here and we are very happy with the care she receives. The employees are very kind and compassionate and the facility itself is very clean. The Director and the Director of Nursing have been on property and engaging with residents and staff each time we've visited and are also very good about retuning phone calls. The layout is very open and welcoming. There are several activities for the residents as well as scheduled activities and meals that the families are invited to attend. We had my Mother~in~ Law in a different facility and she has definitely improved and is much happier here. I would highly recommend Baker Place for anyone considering an Assisted Living Facility for either themselves a loved one as a great choice!

I’ve visited Baker Place several times with my church group. Maybe a few times a year, i was there about a week ago visiting a member of my church and noticed a change. Staff and residents interacting and much more homey and lively. Very nice to see
